Why all this fuss about Darwin?

Throughout western society, where his ideas have been widely taught, many people think the Bible (and hence Christianity) simply isn't relevant to their every day life. They logically conclude that if the Bible is wrong about Creation, how can any of it be trusted? And that is quite understandable. After all, as Jesus said, if someone doesn't believe what the Bible says about earthly things, then how can they believe what it says about heavenly things, like sin and salvation? Jesus said if people didn’t believe Moses (i.e. Genesis etc.) then they wouldn’t believe Him either (Luke 16:31). Genesis gives us details about God’s creative work, the origin of marriage, the start of sin, a flood that covered the world, the origin of languages and people groups, the call of Abraham, the age of the Earth (from genealogies) and much more. Can a person accept some of the Bible, but not all of it? Even a prominent atheist knew the answer to this question:

‘Christianity has fought, still fights, and will continue to fight science to the desperate end over evolution, because evolution destroys utterly and finally the very reason Jesus’ earthly life was supposedly made necessary. Destroy Adam and Eve and the original sin, and in the rubble you will find the sorry remains of the Son of God. If Jesus was not the redeemer who died for our sins, and this is what evolution means, then Christianity is nothing.’

Christianity is a logical worldview. In order to turn atheists and others to the Saviour they need questions answered. The Bible can be trusted in matters of history and science, the origins of the universe, Jesus’ life and His work of redemption, even the future Heavens and Earth.
